Long Time, No Reach

Hello Ever-y-bawwwwdy πŸ‘‹

I’ve missed reaching out to you all, but I have been working on bits here and there and can feel something brewing 🎀🎸🎹πŸ₯πŸ’Όβœˆ Hope you are all feeling good.

Is it just me, or is time speeding up? πŸ‘½

Anyway, I’ve recently shared a cover of a song I’ve recorded and mixed on YouTube – it’s Super Trouper by ABBA (a song I’ve always loved)… I sang, played guitar, played synths, created the drum pattern, and fitted in a sample too for this, as well as mixing πŸ’• Check it out here if you want 😌

Holiday

A couple of weeks ago, I had a week-long holiday in Scotland, in very close proximity to the Solway Firth. I love the coast! I had plenty of walks along the beach, looked in several rock pools at nature’s wonders, and enjoyed the fresh air and nice weather that was offered to us.

I also managed to catch up on a bit of reading (currently working my way through Patricia Cornwell’s Scarpetta series – love ’em!) and I also had a play or two on my (now designated travel) Taylor guitar πŸ™‚

It felt good to get away from normality for a bit!

Practice Makes Perfect

Hey there! This is just a quick update on my musical progress so far this year. There are a couple of new songs now under way and taking shape nicely. Having picked up drums for the first time in April, I am also progressing with drumming nicely and still enjoying learning them – I have recently bought RSL’s Grade 1 & 2 books having completed Premiere and Debut πŸ™‚ It’s a great distraction from day-to-day work and a good addition to my musical skill set. Furthermore, with the help of my family, I’ve been able to treat myself to a new acoustic guitar as my Taylor GS Mini sadly is no longer fit for live performance. My new addition is a Fender Malibu Player, which I am already enjoying playing and looking forward to performing with in the future.

Side note: I love Beetlejuice and E.T. – here’s an outtake from my photoshoot at the start of the year πŸ™‚

As always, thanks for your support x

Update Amongst these Strange Times

I timed the release of my latest Summery-feel single ‘Stay’ pretty badly! Yikes, what a strange few months! I hope everyone is staying safe. Despite these strange times, since my last post, ‘Stay’ has had even more support from various music critics, music lovers, and radio shows, and I am very grateful.

After ‘Stay’ was broadcast on my local BBC Introducing in Lancashire show three times, the Easter Saturday Afternoon show on Radio Lancashire show also broadcast it! Amazing. It was also broadcast on Bombshell Radio, Lone Frequencies, and Trust the Doc (voted as ‘Track of the Week’ by the public (also featured on the blog & TV Show)). Thanks to the numerous fans and supporters who have listened to ‘Stay’, added it to their playlists on various platforms, and/or told their friends/family about it! So much love. Thanks again to Jammerzine, Eat this Music, The Music Below, and Permanent Rain Press for featuring ‘Stay’ on blog posts and socials.

In other news, I uploaded 2x videos to YouTube recently. The first one was a cover of a Joy Division song (Decades) that I performed with my band during my headliner set at Factory (Manchester) last October

The second one was a lyric video for my new single ‘Stay’

In other, OTHER news! I picked up drums (learning of) about a month ago and I’m really enjoying the journey. I’m learning lots about different techniques, drums voices, and beats, and can’t wait to learn more. I’m following the Rock School syllabus as a guide and various YouTube videos for hints and tips. I’ll probably start sharing clips at some point! I’m practicing on an electronic drum kit at the moment, but looking forward to playing on an acoustic kit in a rehearsal space soon. I’m hoping to pick up guitar and keys again, exercise my voice and writing skills… I just need to get back into routine and find the time from somewhere! Exciting times.

Thanks for reading and bye for now πŸ™‚ Take care xx

Trust the Doc Feature

It’s always exciting and heart-warming when music lovers and bloggers go to great efforts to research my background and music and share with their followers. So it was a delight to find out I’d been featured in another blog, this time Trust the Doc!

Check out the awesome feature below:

This news followed on from narrowly missing out on Fresh on the Net’s Fresh Faves, which I was gutted about but delighted in equal measure that ‘Stay’ had been received so well by the Fresh on the Net’s moderators and voters on the listening post.
