Blink

Another weekend over with! It’s been another busy, but thoroughly enjoyable weekend… I spent Saturday rehearsing and planning the next few months of music-related activities.

Today (Sunday), I spent some quality time with my Mum & Dad at Bodnant Garden. The weather wasn’t great, but (as always) we didn’t let this dampen our spirits!

In terms of my music journey overall, my spirits have definitely been lifted since uploading Blink to Amazing Tunes and BBC Introducing a couple of weeks ago… It’s been broadcast on Shell Zenner’s Amazing Radio show, BBC Introducing Lancashire, and BBC Introducing Manchester – WAHOOOOOO!!

I’m currently playing around with ideas on a Novation Circuit, to try to incorporate more into my performance, alongside my vocals. Eventually I’ll be investing in a synth too, in order to add some synth parts to my part of the set. Mike (pictured) is totally ace at performing the bulk of the tracks on his synths though and I’m really looking forward to us going out on stage somewhere near you soon!

Exciting plans are currently being discussed about: event locations, video shoots, artwork, new music, release dates, demo recording, and merchandise…. So, stay-tuned!!!!!

Best Wishes,

Post Holiday Blues

I’ve recently returned from a lovely holiday that I had with some of my family in the Isle of Wight. In fact, this is my first day back at home and the last day of annual leave (for a while)!

My Dad took this photo on our last day in the Isle of Wight. We’d just finished an enjoyable walk to Alum Bay, where we looked at the interesting sedimentary layers in the cliffs that have been exposed by coastal erosion.

Isle of Wight is definitely a place I’d recommend; the scenery is beautiful and there’s plenty to do on the island for various ages! One of my favourite viewpoints is near where the old Needles rocket testing site is – the views across the Solent are breathtaking.

I am sad that such a lovely break had to come to an end, but at the same time, it’s nice to be back with my home comforts… I have plenty to look forward to with music too!

There’s two new alt-pop studio-recorded tracks waiting to be released:

Also, I’m back rehearsing at Blueprint Studios, already with a few booked gigs towards the end of the year to look forward to!!

Happy holidays to anyone starting theirs!

Vibe

It’s been a groovy few weeks for my music since my last post!

Firstly, I’ve been in for another studio weekend with Sugar House – enjoyable as always!! Secondly, I began to promote my new single ‘Vibe’ on social media, including uploading it to BBC Introducing and Amazing Tunes (which then is sent to Amazing Radio DJs for consideration for airplay)… VIBE WAS BROADCAST ON BOTH!!!!

Getting notifications about these things is a great little pick-me-up when I’m at work!! I’ve also recently been photographed by Niall Lea for a promotional shoot, to accompany 2017’s press related push for my music (really great experience!!).

Here’s a link to Vibe:

Update

Hello! Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. I hope you’re well.

I don’t have much news regarding music, or anything else (which is same-old-same-old at the moment), so not had anything to share really!

One major achievement though, which happened on the last day of 2016, was that I was featured on BBC Introducing Lancashire’s ‘Best of 2016’ show (part two)!! I was obviously thrilled to be featured on this (as well as part one, two weeks prior!).

Well, I’m probably going to be away for a while, since I’ve recently invested in some new Korg synthesisers, that are teasing me day-in-day-out (in a good way though)… Off I play!

Have a fun few days until next time!

Love,

Sam

Family

The past few days, and the next few days, have been/will be very family orientated in our house. I love it. I’m fortunate to be close to my siblings, and cherish the time I get to spend with them, especially now that they’ve all flown the nest!

I’m very fortunate to have loving and supportive parents too; so this post is to highlight how important my family are to me.

There’s one album that exists that always reminds me of spending time with my family, whenever I listen to it – it’s ‘Graceland’ by Paul Simon. My sister used to always loop it in the car whilst we were all road-tripping… It’s a brilliant album, which evokes brilliant memories for me…

Here’s one of the tracks off it:

Tis the Season

It seems appropriate to use this post to highlight two huge achievements from the past week-and-a-bit.

The first achievement was having more national airplay. I was delighted when I found this news out! ‘No Other Fish’ was featured on the ‘BBC 6 Music Recommends’ playlist alongside really ace artists. For an unsigned musician (& I suspect for signed musicians this also applies), being featured on these radio shows helps massively in allowing one’s music to reach a wider audience. I notice this when my statistics increase on social media sites after being broadcast… I love that… there’s something super special about connecting with people through music, especially when my songs are so personal to me!

The second achievement was being featured on BBC Introducing in Lancashire’s ‘Best of 2016‘ playlist, which is an absolute honour! My local BBC Introducing team have been incredibly supportive since the start, & being featured on their ‘best of 2016’ playlist was definitely the cherry on top of a rather large cake of achievements!

Other than these achievements, I’ve been focusing on getting through my working days, which have felt crazily long recently… Always keen to get home to continue being creative!

One really ace discovery, that I’d like to conclude this post with, is a song that I absolutely adore… Here it is:

Back to Work

After having a nice relaxing week off work last week, I’m now fully back into “nine ’til five mode”.

I finished my week off work with a thoroughly enjoyable couple of days with Sugar House, at Catalyst Studios, creating the second track for my next EP.

For this track, live drums were incorporated… Here’s a photograph of one half of Sugar House – Ady Hall – being ace on drums for the track:

I’m already looking forward to recording the third track in February 2017! In the meantime, I’m continuing to write new tracks, and rehearsing songs already written.

Lastly, I’m still enjoying checking out music from other emerging artists (as well as more established ones!), and a really awesome discovery last week was this:

Space Cadet

Today is the day in which I am finally able to sort out all of my digital files, in order to free up space on my devices; space that is needed for future music projects!

I am also getting back into keeping up-to-date with my non-digital  files (doodling in my journal!), in order to free up some space in my head; space that is also needed for future music projects!

Not only does it feel liberating, it’s also great to have mementos that I can potentially use as inspiration further down the line – who knows?!

I am still feeling happy after having heard my track ‘TV Man’ off ‘Don’t Let the Bad Seeds Grow’, having its third airplay on BBC Introducing Lancashire last night. I had a lovely meal with my Nan, & listening to my track on Sean McGinty’s show was a really nice end to the night.

This is a random excerpt from my journal:

I’m off work next week, so between now & then I’ll be rehearsing for my next studio session with Sugar House. I enjoy being creative!

I also love to enjoy creations by other artists – this is a song I particularly love at the moment:

Jagwar Ma – Colours of Paradise

Have a jolly good Sunday!!
