Update Amongst these Strange Times

I timed the release of my latest Summery-feel single ‘Stay’ pretty badly! Yikes, what a strange few months! I hope everyone is staying safe. Despite these strange times, since my last post, ‘Stay’ has had even more support from various music critics, music lovers, and radio shows, and I am very grateful.

After ‘Stay’ was broadcast on my local BBC Introducing in Lancashire show three times, the Easter Saturday Afternoon show on Radio Lancashire show also broadcast it! Amazing. It was also broadcast on Bombshell Radio, Lone Frequencies, and Trust the Doc (voted as ‘Track of the Week’ by the public (also featured on the blog & TV Show)). Thanks to the numerous fans and supporters who have listened to ‘Stay’, added it to their playlists on various platforms, and/or told their friends/family about it! So much love. Thanks again to Jammerzine, Eat this Music, The Music Below, and Permanent Rain Press for featuring ‘Stay’ on blog posts and socials.

In other news, I uploaded 2x videos to YouTube recently. The first one was a cover of a Joy Division song (Decades) that I performed with my band during my headliner set at Factory (Manchester) last October

The second one was a lyric video for my new single ‘Stay’

In other, OTHER news! I picked up drums (learning of) about a month ago and I’m really enjoying the journey. I’m learning lots about different techniques, drums voices, and beats, and can’t wait to learn more. I’m following the Rock School syllabus as a guide and various YouTube videos for hints and tips. I’ll probably start sharing clips at some point! I’m practicing on an electronic drum kit at the moment, but looking forward to playing on an acoustic kit in a rehearsal space soon. I’m hoping to pick up guitar and keys again, exercise my voice and writing skills… I just need to get back into routine and find the time from somewhere! Exciting times.

Thanks for reading and bye for now 🙂 Take care xx

Here’s me – fresh off a bus from rehearsals in Manchester, at BBC Radio Lancashire in Blackburn:

I had a lovely catch-up with Sean McGinty on his BBC Introducing in Lancashire show. We spoke about my experience recording a live video at BBC North West and a couple of other cool things that are around the corner… Check it out here:

Quick Update

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks preparing for various music sessions. The first of  my sessions involved my return to Catalyst Studios with Sugar House. Sugar House are the producers that have been producing my tracks for the last couple of years. I’m excited to share the finished track with everyone very soon, but at the moment I’ve been focussing on a couple of other things…

Firstly, the Independent Venue Week showcase at Wigan! This included my live-set on the line-up! I was joined by a synth player on stage, and it was a great experience. My last performance accompanied by a synth player only, will be when I support IORA, in Manchester, in March. After that, I’m hoping to start gigging with the full kit and caboodle! Exciting developments to the live band are already underway.

Lastly, live performance video recorded by the BBC North West Tonight team for BBC Introducing Lancashire! I’ve been really excited about this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to my experience at Media City in the next couple of days.

As a side note,  I watched La La Land a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it – really relatable story and a lovely soundtrack, amongst other things!

More Airplay!

Really grateful that Blink has had more airplay on Amazing Radio thanks to all of the kind souls in the OurStage community voting for it!

Sober also had its first ever BBC Introducing airplay recently! Thanks to Sean McGinty and his team over at BBC Introducing in Lancashire for their continued support.

Currently writing and recording some demos ready for the studio in 2018!

Focus

Sam Leoh is our second act, a singer with a distinctive, plaintive voice, performing electro-pop with a keyboardist who stands behind three analog synthesisers.  Leohs voice occasionally sounds reminiscent of Scadinavian artists like Bjork, and the overall sound is a good example of the electro-pop genre with muscular, propulsive synth-riffs, crunchy pads and formidable electronic beats.  The set varied between moments of static chilliness and pure floor-filling pop.’ Andy Holland:Getintothis

Getintothis 81 Renshaw Gig Review

The past few weeks have been really enjoyable. As mentioned in my previous post, I had a chat with Sean McGinty over at BBC Introducing in Lancashire (still available at BBC Intro Lancashire! (not for long though))… and I also performed at a gig in East Ardsley. The gig was really fun, and great preparation for future gigs!

Most recently, as highlighted above, I performed at the lovely 81 Renshaw venue in Liverpool, with my bandmate, to support Siobhan Wilson. It was a really special evening!!

A final note… I’ve noticed I’ve spent a lot of time recently on social media, not necessarily posting, but constantly checking. I’ve decided to take a short break from social media, as I’d like to put a little more of my spare energy and time into creating new material at the moment. The rest of my energy and time will be, as always, spent on my paid work and developing as a live artist (rehearsing & gigs – wahoo!!!!!).

I don’t see any harm in keeping my blog up-to-date though 😉

Catch you soon!

Love and thanks, as always,

Sam
